Gold and Glory
Description:
Gold and Glory is a two player co-op bullet hell. Players alternate between playing the roles of Attacker and Defender. The Attacker shoots enemies as you would expect, but the Defender can use their shield to block and absorb enemy bullets to turn them into ammo! Switching roles lets the former Attacker replenish their ammo while the former Defender can wreak havoc! With four unique characters and their own attacks and shields, there is plenty of fun to be had in this one-of-a-kind bullet hell! Team size: 4 Role: Character Artist, Sprite Artist, Gameplay Designer Tools used: Photoshop, Unity Developer notes: Gold and Glory is a game I helped develop using Unity. The project was started by asking the question, what type of game could we make if we tried something different? We noticed that most bullet hell-type games focus on a single player weaving through a curtain of colorful projectiles, and wondered how could we change that? What could we do to introduce a second player and make it a true co-operative experience instead of two single player experiences? From that springboard, we created a cast of colorful characters that would blast each other with a healthy amount of projectiles. My role on the project was to help design bullet patterns, player shot types, create the character portrait art and to create and animate the sprite art. |
